The Vinegar Cleanser
Vinegar is one active ingredient that is not only good for cooking but also for various other tasks. One such use is cleaning. I did my research and found out that acids are very good to attack icky buildups. It does an excellent job to soak away stiff stains, hard water, or even sticky glue.
Vinegar has the acidity element that helps to give you a cleaner effect. And if you mix it with the super beneficial baking soda then a strong cleaning paste turns out.
Get some white vinegar from your kitchen, you can buy it from super shops as well and they sell in fewer portion bottles, in case you need it only for cleaning. Garb some baking soda as well. Now you would need to maintain a 1:2 ratio for both ingredients.
Combine one part of vinegar with 2 portions of baking soda. Add a few drops of dishwasher or dish soap, whatever you have. It will turn out into a cakey mixture. This is the super blend that will take all grease away.
Preparing the Stove
Before you jump into cleaning the grates, you need to prepare them. To start, you need to detach grates from the stovetop. Also, lift the burner caps from the burner head by simply lifting them. Now you need to pile all of them in the sink.
If you have a huge size grate, then get help from your husband or a friend you are comfortable working with. Sometimes it’s the sink that’s small. In that case, you can try doing it in batches.
Clean Up Method When Grates Are Fairly Clean
You might see that your grate is fairly clean, but you still need to get rid of dirt to maintain a good position on the stove. If that is the case, then simply use a non-abrasive sponge, get it soaped up and give the grates a nice wash.
Stoves with enamel or coatings will need your extra attention. You don’t want any strip-off to happen. The thorough washing with a soapy sponge will gradually remove all dirt. Rinse it off and repeat the process if you need a cleaner look.
You would need to check if the stove feels tacky or greasy by touching it. Once you see there’s absolutely no grimy or filmy stain, take a breath of relief! Now your stove is completely clean, and it’ll sparkle like new.
Clean Up Method When Grates Are Solid Dirty
In case you have grates that hold solid dirt, then the method will need more effort. Don’t worry I’ll write about it as well. To get rid of the grave type of baked grease, first, start with giving an initial wash with a soapy sponge.
Now you need the miracle vinegar paste we made earlier. Get a clean toothbrush and apply the mixture evenly over the grates. Let it sit for fifteen to twenty minutes. Now simply wash it off with a soapy sponge and elbow grease. Rinse it well. You will find the grates shining like new.
Alternative Method: The Overnight Technique!
This is an effortless method to clean up your greasy grates. However, avoid this if there isn’t too much filth to clean. Also, this will work only if you have a smaller grate. Get the mixture you made earlier into a Ziploc bag, you need a huge one. A freezer bag will also do well.
Now, simply place the stove parts in this bag and seal it properly. Leave the bag in your kitchen to get an overnight treatment. When you wake up in the morning, take all the parts out and use a soapy sponge to wipe away any dirt or grease. Absolutely no sweat, your grates will be all clean and nice.
After Cleaning Up
Once you get the grates clean, gradually dry them off. make sure they dry really well. Use a kitchen cloth or towel to give a nice wipe. These clothes are super absorbent and do not leave any smell behind. Gently rub the water. Trying too hard will leave scratches.
